I love that we stick out like a sore thumb! 😆 Or maybe if I was a decent marketer I’d spin that to “a beacon of sweetness!”

Such a beautiful, calm evening at the homestead tonight! The cats and the chickens were delighted to have us hang out with them all day, and not hurrying off to swap batches of candy 😀
We can’t afford to take too many lazy days off, but it sure is nice to have one once in a while.

🥰 FEELING BLESSED 🥰
We’re enjoying a recovery day after an exceptionally busy weekend event! The Pride of Dakota Dickinson Showcase saw record attendance, and while our sales were down slightly (everyone is tightening their belts with the economy), we kept busy nearly the entire time.
Some highlights for us:
My (Frank’s) parents surprising us by taking time off their busy farming life to come check out the show together (here, Dad’s cracking wise about our booth). I adored getting to introduce them to a couple vendors like it was Show and Tell Day in grade school, and would have gone from booth to booth doing so but we were kind of busy!
That customer from Stanley who made the trek specifically to come hit our booth right after opening, so she could snag a half-dozen Chamoy Kittles because she was worried we’d sell out (we actually came close on doing so with those!)
Numerous longtime customers who showed up to support us after receiving our text alert and Facebook posts–even those who just wanted to come say ‘hi’ to us since we don’t attend as many shows as we used to.
A surprising number of folks who read the article on us last week in North Dakota Living and turned out to be neighbors around our little homestead outside South Heart who we’d never met before!
Fellow Pride of Dakota vendors who have become friends over the years; it feels like a family reunion getting to catch up with them, compare notes and ideas, trade, and in general encourage one another in our attempts at leveling up our game. Talk about a great group of ambitious entrepreneurs!
The staff at the North Dakota Department of Agriculture who have been tireless cheerleaders for us and other Pride of Dakota members, in particular: shout out to Katrina for going above and beyond to make sure these events are such a success.
One of my first employers, Bonnie, (from 30 years ago) who came to the show specifically to come give me a hug and talk about how proud she was of us. It’s amazing how after three decades some friendships just seem to remain.
Likewise, three high school classmates, some who I’ve literally not seen since graduation, who made a point of seeking us out to come show their support and reconnect.
With all the ugliness out there in the world, we truly are blessed to have a strong social fabric in North Dakota and especially our corner of the state.
RaeLea and I are truly lucky squirrels to be a tiny part of this great community. 🥰

Back by popular demand: Jolly Crunchers!
We stayed up late and got up early to get a small quantity of Jolly Crunchers processed for today and tomorrow’s Pride of Dakota Dickinson Showcase.
They’re a mess to make but we like making our customers happy! 😁

The Pride of Dakota Dickinson Showcase is this Friday and Saturday and we’re (mostly) set up! Friday 3-8 and Saturday 9-5 at the West River Ice Center. The Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Harvest Festival at the same location on Saturday, so it’s going to be a big event! Be sure to stop by.
