Understanding Your Website Basics

You don’t need to be a tech expert to work with us — that’s our job. But here are a few basics that are handy to know.

Your Domain Name

Your domain (e.g., yourbusiness.com) is your address on the internet. We manage the technical setup, but you own it. If you ever need to transfer it or make DNS changes, just let us know.

Website Hosting

Your website lives on a server that’s always on, always connected to the internet. We handle all the server management, security updates, and backups so you don’t have to think about it.

SSL Certificate (The Padlock)

That little padlock icon in your browser bar? That’s your SSL certificate. It encrypts data between your visitors and your site. We keep this current and renewed automatically.

Backups

We run regular backups of your website. If something ever goes sideways, we can restore your site to a previous state. You don’t need to do anything — it’s all automatic.

Updates and Maintenance

WordPress, themes, and plugins need regular updates for security and performance. We handle these on a regular schedule. Occasionally you might notice a brief maintenance window — we’ll always give you a heads up for anything significant.
